Amsterdam was the perfect choice for the 12th AGN World Congress, not only for its perfect location in Europe, but also because it has one of the largest historical city centres in Europe and it is both a financial and cultural centre in the Netherlands.

On Sunday 30th of September, a city tour was organised specially for the attendees, which gave them the opportunity to enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city in coaches and then by boat along the famous canals. The AGN International - Europe Limited annual conference took place in the ancient city of Athens, Greece, and was attended by 110 delegates and companions from 22 countries within Europe and was a great chance for them to meet with old and new colleagues.

The annual conference is always a good opportunity for everyone to share their experiences, receive information about different subjects of interest, refresh contacts and spend time together in a pleasant location . There were presentations on many subjects including:

The Greek Economy and the Current Situation and Prospects
Investing in Greece
Presentations by member firms and one prospective member firm
IBFD online databases and the Tax Planning program ITE 1
VAT Tax Fraud
Tax changes in both Germany and Malta
Cross Border Labour

A full days social programme was arranged for the companions which included the Corinth Canal , Mycenae , the royal tombs , the celebrated tomb of Agamemnon , Nafplio , the Venetian fortress of Palamidi and the fortified islet of Bourtzi . As part of the social programme a city bus tour was organized for the delegates and companions to enjoy the sights of Athens including a guided tour of the Acropolis.

The Regional Congress for 2008 will be held in Stockholm, and we expect it to be as successful as this one.

The strong demand for recruiting services in the eastern countries has become a reality for the rest of Europe and because of this, in the last few years, AGN has appointed new member firms in Russia, Poland, Estonia and Latvia.

There are also two prospective member firms in the Ukraine and Belarus which have been approved for Pre-Admission Practice Reviews by the International Board of Directors in order to ensure high quality work for AGN members and their clients.
