The firm
Duignan Carthy O’Neill was formed in 1998 arising from a merger of Duignan & Co., and Carthy O’Neill & Co., two Dublin based chartered accounting firms established for over 40 years. The practice has grown over the years to include a comprehensive range of accounting, tax and financial advisory services. This growth has been based on building long-term relationships with entrepreneurial, growth-oriented Irish and international businesses across a broad range of industries. The firm was a member of TAG and joined AGN on the merger of both organisations.
Our philosophy 
It has been the continuing policy of the firm to build long-term relationships by putting our clients’ interests first in providing the highest standard of professional service in a prompt, responsive and cost-effective manner.
Our aim is to stay on the leading edge of professional practice in Ireland with the use of the latest information technology applications such as wireless local area network, email, internet and web-based information. Tim Carthy
Tim joined the Firm in October 1999 after working with Arthur Andersen in Dublin , France , the United States and Australia . He has 20 years experience of audit, accounting and business consulting. Areas of expertise include construction, engineering, property,
agri business, recycling,
leisure and hospitality, financial services, and the insurance industry.

Liam McQuaid
Liam, Managing Partner, joined the firm in 1980 after working with KPMG in Dublin . He has 35 years experience of audit, accounting and business consulting, specializing in auditing and insolvency. His speciality industries include security, property, leisure, printing, wholesale grocery trade, pension funds and charities.
In addition to audit and accounting advice Liam specializes in insolvency matters, including court liquidations. Liam is a member of the Accounting Standards Board (ASB) Committee on Accounting for Smaller Entities and the Accounting Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland . Liam is the firm’s contact Partner in AGN. He is a Director of AGN Europe, Chairman of the AGN Quality Assurance Committee for Europe and a member of the AGN International Quality Assurance Committee.

Paul Dillon
Paul joined the firm in June 2009 as Tax Partner and has extensive experience gained in working both in practice and in industry. He commenced his career with KPMG and was responsible for group tax issues for a large Irish PLC before returning to practice with Baker Tilly a number of years ago. He is responsible for tax consultancy and tax compliance for a wide portfolio of corporate and personal clients. He advises on several one-off transactions such as international taxation issues and group restructurings. He also specializes in wealth and estate planning and the tax efficient movement of assets between family members.

- Taxation
The Firms Taxation Department provides comprehensive advice on all aspects of personal and company taxation, Property transactions Capital and Direct taxes, Sales and indirect taxes and wealth transfer planning. Our tax team has particular experience regarding international tax – both for foreign companies operating in Ireland and for Irish companies and individuals investing abroad.
- Corporate Finance
The Firms role here includes developing investment proposals, business plans and financial forecasts for attracting venture capital or other equity investors, joint-venture partners, banks and other lenders and negotiating grants from the Irish Government and EU agencies. We also specialize in due diligence assignments for potential acquisitions of businesses located in Ireland, UK and Europe.

Liquidation & Receivership
Partners of the Firm regularly act as receiver, examiner and liquidator, providing prompt commercial advice on insolvency, business rescue and failure matters to creditors, and financiers.

The firm also specialises in the area of litigation support and dispute resolution. This involves assisting clients, and usually their lawyers, resolve commercial disputes.
